Thurston Arthritis Research Center
About Our Work
Performing daily tasks can be very challenging for people affected by the more than 100 types of arthritis, over 80 different autoimmune diseases, and countless allergies to foods and environmental factors. That’s why we are passionate about conducting cutting-edge research to develop innovative new treatments that can help reduce the impact of these diseases on patients and society. Additionally, we are focused on providing world-class and compassionate medical care to patients while offering the best training available for the leading health care practitioners of tomorrow.
The mission of the UNC Thurston Arthritis Research Center and Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology is to leverage advanced research, education, and clinical expertise to investigate the causes and consequences of arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and allergies. We are driven by a passion to make a significant and lasting difference for those we serve.
Support the Thurston Arthritis Research Center
Arthritis. Lupus. Food allergies. These are examples of the broad range of diseases that we are focusing on in order to find new ways to help patients live life to the fullest. We rely on the support of donors like you to help us continue our search for new and innovative ways to prevent and treat disease, provide compassionate care, and train the next generation of medical specialists. Gifts to this fund support the greatest needs of the research center and clinical division.
Gifts to this fund specifically support the research, patient care, and education efforts of our physicians, scientists, and nurses who specialize in allergy and immunology. A few focus areas include food allergies, the Alpha-gal red meat allergy, environmental triggers, immunodeficiency, and swelling of the airway.
