UNC’s Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism provides teaching, research, and patient care in all aspects of endocrinology and metabolism. Our primary goals are to provide new knowledge as to how hormones work and how their actions are altered in disease states, to improve the quality of patient care in endocrinology and metabolism by conducting high-quality and informative teaching, and to provide the best possible expertise in consultative care.

Philanthropy plays a critical role in supporting the activities of the Division. Private support helps us train tomorrow’s physician-scientists, make advances in the diagnosis and treatment of endocrine and metabolic disorders through research, and achieve the best possible outcome for patients.

Support the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism

The Endocrinology and Metabolism Excellence Fund
The Endocrinology and Metabolism Excellence Fund provides one of the most important sources of support to the Division – unrestricted gifts. Unrestricted gifts are among the most valuable because they allow the Division Chief to allocate funds wherever the need is greatest and to take advantage of unique opportunities as they arise, making timely decisions about where resources are needed the most.

The Endocrinology and Metabolism Fellowship Fund supports our fellowship program, which prepares trainees for top academic and clinical positions by providing a strong foundation in patient care, research, and teaching. The Fund helps us provide a comprehensive Fellowship Program, which allows Fellows to pursue research and leadership opportunities at national conferences and seminars, supports visiting lecturers from across the country, and aids in funding educational materials and subscriptions.
