The UNC Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology provides outstanding clinical care, conducts research that advances the field, and trains the next generation of clinicians and researchers. As the premier clinical practice in North Carolina, and among the top nationwide, UNC GI provides high quality, compassionate care to patients with a full spectrum of GI and liver conditions. Home of an NIH-funded Digestive Disease Center, UNC GI receives more than $19 million in external grant support and publishes more than 250 peer-reviewed papers each year, including major contributions in colon cancer epidemiology, Barrett’s esophagus and eosinophilic esophagitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and viral hepatitis. The division has trained more than 160 fellows and currently has three core and three advanced fellowship training programs.

Your gift to the Division will support our ongoing research developing new treatments and cures for those who suffer from GI and liver diseases, and train the next generation of gastroenterologists and hepatologists at the research bench and the patient’s bedside.

Support the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology

The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Excellence Fund
The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Excellence Fund provides one of the most important sources of support to the Division – unrestricted gifts. Unrestricted gifts are among the most valuable because they allow the Division Chief to allocate funds wherever the need is greatest, to take advantage of unique opportunities as they arise, and to make timely decisions about where resources are needed the most.
