The UNC Department of Surgery is dedicated to the wellness and treatment of adults and children, providing a full range of specialty surgical care to our patients. Our residency programs and fellowships focus on creating new knowledge and educating the surgeons and teachers of tomorrow.

We specialize in the most complicated illnesses and conditions, serve as a surgical referral center for patients and physicians across North Carolina and the United States, and frequently provide surgical care and instruction to developing nations.

An internationally recognized leader in scientific research, UNC Surgery strives to improve patient outcomes by finding innovative solutions to challenges faced in the operating rooms and clinics.
