“You matter because of who you are. You matter to the last moment of your life, and we will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die.”
– Dame Cicely Saunders, nurse, physician, and founder of hospice movement (1918-2005)
The primary focus of hospice care services at UNC is to provide support and compassionate care for patients in the last phases of terminal illness. We are dedicated to helping patients and their families receive the kind of end of life care we would all wish for those we love.
Support UNC Hospice
UNC Hospice Fund
The UNC Hospice Fund provides one of the most important sources of support – unrestricted gifts. Unrestricted gifts are among the most valuable because they enable the Executive Director to make timely decisions about where resources are needed the most, allowing us to provide the care and comfort needed by our patients and their families.
UNC Hospice Patient and Family Care Fund
The UNC Hospice Patient and Family Care Fund assists patients and their families with expenses that are not otherwise covered. Support of this fund helps with special equipment, off-formulary medications for patients requiring complex care, and basic travel and meal expenses for families in need. Your gift will help reduce the financial burden these families face, allowing them to focus on spending time with their loved one.
UNC Hospice Facility Fund
Hospice Home Care is a comfort to many families, however for some, it is simply not an option. In order to give everyone the end-of-life comfort and care they need and deserve, an inpatient facility is necessary. Gifts to the UNC Hospice Facility Fund support the ongoing needs of the SECU Jim and Betsy Bryan UNC Hospice Home, ensuring that all patients facing their final days have the opportunity to be free from suffering and pain and live those final days with dignity.
